Privacy Policy
In short. Folkly has no account and no server, and we receive nothing: not your contacts, not your notes, not when you talk to whom. Everything is stored on your phone, encrypted. If you leave it on, the backup goes to your own iCloud, also encrypted with a key that only lives in your Keychain: neither Apple nor we can read it. There are no ads, no analytics and no third-party components. Folkly Plus is a one-time purchase charged by Apple or Google, never by us.
Who is responsible for your data
Consultoría EHERO S.L.U. (Spanish tax ID B72671100), Rúa Emilia Pardo Bazán 25 A2, 36204 Vigo (Pontevedra), Spain.
Contact for anything on this page: info@consultoriaehero.com.
Since Folkly sends us nothing, in practice we don't process any of your data: what the app keeps, you keep, on your phone.
What is stored and where
On your phone
- Your people: the people you choose, with their name, phone, email, birthday and photo if they have them, how often you want to talk to them, their circles, notes, things to bring up, gift ideas, dates and where you met.
- When you talked to each of them and how (call, message, WhatsApp, in person…), to know who's due.
- Your card, if you fill it in, to show it as a QR code.
- Your settings: reminder time and count, app theme and icon.
All of that goes in a file encrypted with AES-GCM, with a key the app creates and keeps in the phone's Keychain. On top of that, the system protects the file with your passcode. If you delete the app, it's deleted with it.
The widget and the Apple Watch app read part of that data (names, faces, who's due and favourites) to show it. It goes from the iPhone to the watch directly, over Apple's connection between your two devices, without going through any server of ours.
In your iCloud, if you leave it on
The app keeps a copy of your list in the app's iCloud space, in your Apple account. It's compressed and encrypted with a second key that lives in your iCloud Keychain, so a new phone with the same account can open it. Apple stores the copy but can't read it, and we never see it. Turn it off in Settings › Automatic iCloud backup.
You can also make a manual backup, protected with a password you choose, and save it wherever you like with the Files app.
Permissions, one by one
| Permission | What for |
|---|---|
| Contacts | Adding the people you choose, with their phone, birthday and photo. Folkly works just the same if you only share some contacts. Notes belong to Folkly: they aren't written to your contacts. |
| Notifications | Reminding you, from the phone itself, who's due and whose birthday it is. There are no notifications from any server. |
| Calendar (optional) | Noticing that you saw someone at an event and showing your next event together. It's read on the phone and not stored. It only creates an event if you ask it to. |
| Camera (optional) | Reading a business card. The text is recognised on the phone and the photo isn't kept. |
| Photos (optional) | Putting the photo you pick on a face or on your card. It uses the system picker: the app only gets that photo and can't see your library. |
When you tap call, Messages, WhatsApp, Telegram or another app from a profile, Folkly just opens that app with the number or the text already written. What you send from there is handled by that app under its own policy.
If you import a file (a vCard or LinkedIn's Connections.csv), it's read on the phone and stays in Folkly.
Purchases
Folkly Plus is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It's charged by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) with your phone's account: we don't see your card or payment details. The app only asks the store whether you have Plus.
This page
These web pages set no cookies and carry no analytics. The hosting keeps the usual web server logs.
What we do NOT collect
- Anything. There's no account, no server and no sign-up.
- Not your contacts, your notes, or who you talk to and when.
- No payment data: Apple and Google handle the charges.
- No ads, no analytics and no third-party crash reports. Folkly contains no components from other companies.
Who it's shared with
| Who | What for |
|---|---|
| Apple, in your iCloud | Storing the encrypted backup, only if you leave it on. Apple can't read it. |
| Apple and Google, as stores | Charging for Folkly Plus. They are the ones handling your payment details. |
| Whoever you choose | Your card or someone's contact, only when you share it. |
We don't sell data or give it to anyone. We have none to give.
Your people's data
In Folkly you write down things about other people: their name, their birthday or a note. They stay on your phone, for your personal use, and never reach us. Use it as you would a notebook.
How long
- On your phone: until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- In your iCloud: until you turn the backup off or delete it from your account's iCloud settings.
- The purchase: your store keeps it.
Your rights
As we hold no data of yours, there's nothing to request from us: you control everything from the app and from your phone's settings. If you have any questions, write to info@consultoriaehero.com and we'll answer within a month.
If you think we've done something wrong, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency, www.aepd.es, or to the authority in your country.
Age
Folkly is not meant for children under 14.
Changes
If we change how the app handles your data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
